People always ask what SAMA means. It started as kind of a joke. It was a sleeting, snowy day in early December. My friend and I were surfing a swell in Grand Haven. I looked over at him knowing we were supposed to both be at pre-Christmas family functions soon, and said "We are like Self Absorbed Michigan Adventurers." That kind of stuck, and like many of our friends we have a common passion for outdoor sports in Michigan, and we go out in any weather to get our sessions. He replied "Ya, SAMA!"

So it was born, the SAMA logo was fashioned by another like minded surfer friend from Grand Haven. SAMA is for all of you year round Michiganders and vacationers who know, love, and respect all the outdoor activities there are to do in Michigan. No matter the weather you will find us us out enjoying all the benefits of our unique freshwater paradise.

Grand Haven Ski Bowl

Well, the ski bowl was awesome Saturday! I know, you are thinking "seriously, how good could it have been??" Well, don't think of it as a ski resort, think of it as a killer terrain park with four tow ropes, kickers, surf walls, rainbow, box, and kink rails. A killer little lodge, lake view, sunshine, music, slush pond, and well you get the picture, a pretty good time for a Saturday afternoon 1 mile from your house. Here are a few pics that Ingrid snapped of Anna and I. We need to hit that place up more often. Maybe next year a fossil night each week to practice our freestyle skills? Not to mention a great workout going up those tow ropes for a few hours straight!

What's up Samanians? Well, I just wanted to drop a post, and say that it's nice to be back in the good old U.S. of A. I just got home from a month long job in Qatar over in the middle east. It sure is nice to be back were grass grows and people don't wear sheets for clothes. We were doing a coral relocation job in the Persian Gulf so their was lots of SCUBA diving. I attached a couple of photos from diving and a couple from what we do when the wind blows too hard and we can't work offshore. Hope everyone is doing well and can't wait to get back to Michigan to hangout with everybody. Brooke and Brennon we wish you the best of luck with your move and new life down in NC.

See ya in NC!

It's a sad day to write this, but our departure date is March 29th... Brennon and I are moving south to Wrightsville Beach, NC. We will dearly miss all of our SAMA friends here in the great Midwest!!! Please come visit us anytime....seriously anytime!! We are going to miss all of these great Midwest adventures, but have no worries that this will be the end of them...

We promise not to wimp out and only surf warm water...and we will proudly be representing the SAMA down south. Which means we should probably order those tee-shirts finally.

Hoping to get everyone together before we leave... Maybe this Thursday or Friday??
