Ferrysburg Dreamin

Friday night sunset session. What a way to end the work week. Luckily for me a photog was down there and sent me some pics.

May is coming this week, otherwise known as the October of the spring. It seems like May can be so much fun each year. There is a lot of wind, mostly warmer air instead of the cold. Small waves due to the colder water, but plenty of longboard peelers for the surf starved, and lots of super fun waves to kitesurf. It just feels good to be at the beach and not freeze to death. Good to see all of those faces again after a long winter!

Micro Small Spring Surf

I love warm Spring Surf even though it can be micro small. Nor Mo had it's share of fun lefts and very seldom but punchy rights Saturday AM. My buddy Rick did a little shooting with a small waterproof digital camera he picked up recently. This camera would be really nice to accompany a pair of swim fins right in the line up. I can only imagine the shot's we could get this fall dropping into some lake bombs. There seems to be very few good lake surf photos from that perspective. This camera can take 5-15 shot sequence shots which would be perfect in the surf photogs.

The team has been logging some hours on the water this week. Nice wind and some warm weather brings the full spring kite season to fruition. See all of you super kite heroes on the water!

White Lake Blues Fest May 9th!

Anyone up for a little blues action at White Lake? It looks like a great time, and well worth the trek.

Steve Salter of Killer Blues has announced the line-up for second annual White Lake Blues Festival at Howmet Playhouse, 304 S. Mears in Whitehall, MI. Performers include Buick & The Roadmasters, Vincent Hayes, who will perform a short solo acoustic slide guitar set, and James Reeser & The Backseat Drivers will be headlining. This show is sure to be as fun as the last one, and Founder's beer will be on tap for all you hop-heads! Tickets are only $10, and are available at White Lake City Hall. All proceeds will be used to purchase a headstone for blues artist Luther Tucker. More info at www.killerblues.net.

April in Lake Michigan

Well kids,

We had a fantastic time at the surf flick "The Present" down in New Buffalo Michigan. As always the tribe and sub-culture of the Lake Michigan surfers is refreshing. Always up for a good time, and never taking themselves too seriously. Characters abound, our tribe is truly unique. See you all in the water this week!

Florida Boy Gets Barreled in Indo with a Classic Crew

I received this email from Beau's good friend from Florida. He has been living down in Oz for a few years and recently had a chance to "live the dream."
Hey everyone, I just got back from Indonesia and its 10 foot at home! It's too windy and I'm too sick at the moment to be bothered though. I flew into Sumbawa and drove for a couple of hours sitting next to Occy, talking and laughing the whole time. Him, Mick, Bede, Ozzy, Stephanie, and Australian Surfing Life Magazine were all staying at the same place as my girlfriend and I. They were all really cool and I even managed to score some bombs. The fotos are of my first wave on the morning of the first day of swell. Unfortunately, noone got fotos of my best ones on the next day (of course), were I was a bit more in tune, and actually standing tall and deep and getting spit out into the channel. I've had longer, deeper and probably even bigger barrels, but I swear I've never been spit out as hard, like I did on the next day. It didn't seem so heavy, until I wore a set wave on the head, way out back and it drove me straight down, about 9-12 feet under water and slammed me on the sharp reef, then ripped my board out of my hands and swung the rail of my board Barry Bonds style at my shin. I survived though and even got one of my best barrels after that. Anyway the trip was definitely a success and I'll never forget getting to eat, surf, and get sloshed with Occy, my new adopted father. The locals, the countryside, the paintings, the music, the food, and the other travelers met along the way were all sensational, and I feel very fortunate to have had that experience. I hope everyone is doing great and starting to put money aside for travel. Cheers, -eddie
