So it was born, the SAMA logo was fashioned by another like minded surfer friend from Grand Haven. SAMA is for all of you year round Michiganders and vacationers who know, love, and respect all the outdoor activities there are to do in Michigan. No matter the weather you will find us us out enjoying all the benefits of our unique freshwater paradise.

Real Men and Women, Real Neighborhoods, Real Football!
With a beautiful sunny Sunday here in West Michigan it was perfect for a little touch, or push to the ground football. Sispera, crashed and burned, Sarah almost blew out her knee, Marlow struggled to his feet several times, and I thought I ruined my ankle again. But, as luck would have it we all made it back to the house under our own power. Thanks to everyone for a great post game meal! What a blast! The pool table was in action after the sun went down, and another epic Sunday was in the books. Thanks again to everyone who came up and made it a great day. Let's do it again sometime soon!
More Pow!

Austria is Alpine Heaven
Here is a few pics that were sent to me by Stoffi. He was obviously scoring! I am starting to really think we need a SAMA jet to fly around and hit all the epic conditions world wide. Here is part of his email that explains the session.
hello my snow-friends
aus you can see - austria got dumped on last week. we have not had so much snow this early in over 40 year. it is great.
yesterday we skinned up the mountain and had a great powder run down from there. tomorrow lifts are opening here for the
weekend. we are probably hiking up tomorrow at 6:30am so we can lay the first tracks before the tourists do it. you just gotta
do what you gotta do.
Samainians keep up the strong work around the globe!

Bill #629 Pier / Structure Jumping
As you may have heard the State Senate passed the restricting pier jumping bill by a vote of 35-2. It still has to move to the house tourism committee, the house of Representatives, and eventually the governor. If you feel that this bill should not become a law then please take the time to cut and paste the below article. Send it to any of our representatives, the senators, and our governor. Just perform a quick google search for Michigan State reps. and senators. Most of their websites have quick contact links. They say 1 letter represents the views of 40,000 people, due to the fact, so few citizens are active in our democracy. This paragraph was submitted by Chris Madison, and I think it is a great one!
My wishes are to not let the bill #629, for restricting the jumping, diving or swimming form any pier or jetty structure in the Great Lakes, make it to law. I am a surfer on the Great Lakes and for better than 22yrs I have been using these piers as a safer platform to get to the waves we surf. These pier structures make it possible for us to surf in Michigan and have been a vital piece of our surfing culture around the Great Lakes from the moment it started. There is an industry that supports this activity here and without being able to surf off these piers will make it less accessible to a number of people. We have spent a lot of time on these structures and now they may be taken from us in that way. We are concerned.

North Mo Rolls
We scored some nice lefts at North Muskegon Sunday. It was a great day, the lefts were peeling off the elbow about as good as I can remember. Super fun! I sure would like to hop on some of the right handers at C-street right now though. Here is a little shot Richard took from the jetty. It was kind of a closeout left so I went right on this musher. Can't wait for more surf this week. I am out for class tonight so no water action for me.
Thursday night is wine tasting night at the Grand in GH. We should get a group to go down there. We have a records day on Friday so I get to sleep in an extra hour and no kids. Let's head down there around 8pm. Who is in?

Well Samaistas,
With the hours of darkness here for the winter season, it is time to gather at our humble abodes and enjoy the nutritious goodness of soup, and superb company of great friends for the soul. You are sure to leave a SAMA soup session feeling ready for another week on the job. Here was an epic Tortilla Soup cooked up by none other than the fabulous chef Ms. Lesa Vanlier! We watched a bunch of Barn Door Productions kite videos and chilled it up. Soups are simmered to perfection and served to rejuvinate your body and soul!! Why, because they are cooked by your friends! SAMA RULES!!
